Sing My Best

Yesterday was kind of a bad day.

It started off with me in a bad mood, followed into an argument with Denise, continued into more of a bad mood, entered into a lackluster evening and ended with another argument with Denise.

The next one of my kids to drop a "tomorrow I need blank for school" bomb on me at bedtime again is going to be grounded the entire summer.

So, American Idol was pretty boring last night. A lot pretty boring. And Veronica Mars ended. It was such an unsatisfying ending too, with literally everything still left in the air, in the unknown. At the same time, it was somewhat fitting to end that way: the underdog vs. the world with no clue as to what the future holds. I miss it already.

Lost ends its season tonight. I'm praying for Charlie, as he and Hurley are the best things about the show, character-wise. But as my hopes consistently die on tv, I'll miss you Charlie.

Friday I'm disconnecting the cable and being done with it all entirely. There's so much more I should probably also be done with.

I'm thinking, a lot, of beginning to write my memoirs. Thoughts? It's not as if my impending MA in English is going to be good for anything.

I did however get an email this morning that made me very happy. But due to non disclosure agreements I can't share any of it with you. Sorry.

You Suck

Every single one of you who didn't watch Veronica Mars. Literally the cleverist and most whimsical program on television but you couldn't be bothered to watch it. And now it's dead.

What on earth could have been more important to watch on a Tuesday night? Law & Order: Criminal Intent? Even if it were good, and it isn't, it's just yet another serialized cop drama (how many do we really need?) and you can count on it rerunning on USA or TBS for all eternity. House? Every episode of this show is the same damn episode: someone gets very sick, House wants to try wild and crazy tests on them and everyone else in the hospital fights him every step of the way until he discovers the real problem in the final scenes of the show. House is a House is a House. If you've seen one, you've truly seen them all.

All of this not even taking into consideration that, this being the age of TiVo, plenty of you could have watched or recorded your drek while watching or recording something good.

Was Kristen Bell not pretty enough, or Tina Majorino? Or Jason Dohring, Francis Capra or Percy Daggs III? Was the wit too complicated? Were Enrico Colantini and Ryan Hansen too funny? Is it really so hard to celebrate the portrayal of a woman who is both beautiful and capable? [sarcasm] I know such a thing is a stretch[/sarcasm] in a country that's still often as ass backwards as Sasha Baron Cohen portrays it to be, but come on people, you really blew it with me on this one.

You all killed Veronica Mars and you suck.

New Orleans is Sinking

So somewhere in the neighbourhood of two posts ago I lamented how my Veronica Mars enthusiasm is a likely sign of its demise. Latest reports from other outlets have it much more likely that it will return, though fast-forwarded into the future with a possibility of a drastically reduced/changed cast. Le sigh. I would still definitely watch it (hey, over the past year it's usurped Scrubs as my favorite show) but the idea of this Silence of the Veronica Mars revamp scares me a little.

Moving on. . .

Ultrasound numero uno was today. Rael was present and unhappy. Once the whole thing was completed, the technician let it be known that she isn't sure of ANY of her readings because Rael's crying had her too distracted. WTF? If his crying was effecting her ability to do her job properly she should have asked me to remove him--going forward and providing what is ultimately an inconclusive set of results was just entirely unprofessional and has my ire up. What a bleeping waste of time. We might know the actual conception date now; we might have a healthy fetus, we might know the gender now--in other words, nothing has changed.
