I've been going to watch Bandito's band, Fingers of Passion what, three or so years now? While I love going to listen to them, lyrically, usually due to the venues, I can usually only pick up about 10% of the lyrics, which I've always hated. Last night was the first time ever that I was able to follow along with every lyric belted out by Dan, regardless of the fact that I already knew all of the lyrics.
Last night was round 4 of Normal St. Bar's Battle of the Cover Bands (which Fingers of Passion usually is not)--Fingers of Passion vs some Ozzy/Black Sabbath cover band. While the Ozzy band was a lot more of the rocking out, Fingers was actually the only band to inspire mosh pit antics in the crowd, and through their whole set of cover songs from female fronted bands of the '80s and '90s (Go-Go's "Vacation;" Veruca Salt "Volcano Girls;" Belinda Carlisle "Heaven is a Place on Earth;" The Bangles' version of "Hazy Shade of Winter;" the Runaways "Bad Reputation;" Divinyls "I Touch Myself;" some Elastica song I never knew the title to and some SPice Girls song I sadly knew the lyrics to) all sung to their Green Day-esque style of pop punk. It was the most fun I'd had in weeks and I almost didn't go; feeling a bit down I'd decided to stay in but Chrissy dragged me out of the house and I was glad for it.
