Tonight, Tonight

This is the sound of a dream:
Behind my lids the soft lilt of her voice
The breath that caresses
And pulls me.
In the darkness of silent moments
Clouds of dream-stuff are my signposts,
The plush veldt beneath my feet
Is a teasing of the soft velvet of your skin.
Your voice is the siren’s song
Calling me home,
The wind that whispers our wishes in my ear:
All paths converge on you, my darling.

The waking world anchors me with tiny hands.
Hold me. Hold me. Hold me. Hold. Me. (sigh) Hold me. . .
